Help Us out of Financial Ruin

Both my spouse and I lost our jobs this year. When we had jobs and income, we put our entire life’s savings into a business that was hit with two devastating disasters in May and June. We have a rental property and decided to sell it so we would have money to tide us over. The house has not sold, and without a tenant, we can’t even pay the mortgage.

At the end of May, I applied for a perfect job for which I have the exact mix of very oddly specific experience (toxicology, veterinary, marketing, and creative writing).  Part of the application process included a question anout my preferred method of contact. I chose text (versus email). I diligently checked both text and email for 2 months. On July 26th, I reached out to one of the company’s recruiters via LinkedIn. No response. After two more weeks of nothing, it occurred to me to do an email search for the company’s name, and it turned out that I had received an interview request on July 28th. Via email. No text. I reached back out to the person who emailed me, and now again, I’m getting no response.

I am at my wits end here. We have no income, no savings, and the property we hoped to leave to our children is now an albatross around our necks. We still owe 200K for the business, and the business is no longer making enough income to make the monthly loan payment.

I don’t want to have to file for bankruptcy, particularly when all we need to survive is to get our careers back, but I feel as though I’m staring down the barrel of a loaded gun. My own prayers don’t seem to be strong enough. I could use some help.
